Serving at Vacation Bible School

I lead the crafts this year a VBS at Crown Valley Community Church. I was fun to come up with the ideas and do samples, but a lot of work to get enough for 85 kids. Watching the kids enjoying doing the crafts and seeing their creativity made it all worth it.

Wonderful Saturday Hike

On Jan 14, 2012 Joe and I hiked the Garapito Loop. It is off Topanga Canyon Blvd. in Topanga State Park. Melissa left back to college after being home for 5 weeks. It was so nice to have her home and sad to see her leave. Joe and I are empty nesters until May! Although we miss our girls not being at home, I am thanking for the opportunities God has given them outside our home and pleased with the decisions they are making. Joe and I are enjoying our time together.
Oh yea, back to the hike. We didn't start until about 12 o'clock. This is now our favorite local hike. The elevation went up, down, up and back down. The terrain changed a lot too. Most of the hike we were totally by ourselves (like usual), but since we hiked on a Sat. we saw more people then normal closer to the trail head. The weather was on the cooler side (around 60 degrees). It took us 3 hours and 50 minutes and we hiked 10.7 miles. Joe got a GPS watch for Christmas, so now we can know how far we walk and what the elevation is. This hike is on page 132 of afoot & afield Los Angeles County.
